Devlog 7: Production part 4
Hello everyone this is your favourite game's weekly devlog. After a good amount of work we are starting to put everything to together, with the intention to make our project feel like a fun and good looking game. As always you will find all the progress below.
Programming
We implemented a couple of different things.
For one we implemented 'breakable objects'.
Currently this is just one object, a crate that collides with the players without
limiting the players movement, explosively breaking into pieces on contact.
Game Over screen
We also implemented a game over screen that shows the score of all players at the end of the match. It still needs some work like making it clear who won and the art ofcourse!
Character select screen
We also added a game over screen and a character select screen.
The character select screen turned out to be way more difficult than expected,
but we made a lot of progress on it and it's finished on the programming side. now its only the artists move to make it look good ;)
Art
We made some cars to make our city look like there are people living in it, and thus to fill the street with some props. The cars are low poly. Like all our props a quick unwrap on a colour palette is done specifically made for those props.
we made a Japanese street car, this was the Toyota Trueno a popular JDM(Japanese Domestic Market) referring to Japan's home market for vehicles. We also made a Japanese truck, and a typical Japanese taxi, the Toyota NTP10.
We also made some food stands to fill the streets as well. These are typical for the Japanese culture where you can find, probably very good tasting food. These got their own quick unwrap on their own colour palette.
Post-process effects were added to give the scene a more nightly feel, as well as some small tweaks to make it look better.
We also changed our lighting up quite a bit to make sure the that the characters are visible enough and added some materials.
A skybox was added, with a nice evening gradient and some stars.
A couple vfx effects were also implemented, these will be tied to the jumping and landing, as well as the stealing of the crown
The next couple ones will be some trail effects, so the jumps will feel super speedy.
